“No man is an island, entire of itself every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.” - John Donne
“Imagine two islands fifty miles apart. One is beautiful. The other is barren. They appear to be separate. Deep underneath the water line, they are connected; it is all one island. What if people were like that? On the surface they appear to be different and separate, living in different countries, running in different political parties, some being loud and some soft, some being rich and some poor, and yet ALL were connected at some level the eye could not see. If we were connected, how would you behave today?” – Brian Klemmer
I read this and I cannot help but see a visual image in my head of a spider web or the human body. We are all connected because we were all created by the same creator. Using the visuals of a spider web or the human body, if we all recognized that every choice, every decision, every feeling we have affects the whole, we all might think twice about how we behave.
I know that too many times I get wrapped up in myself or have my set of ideas and I want to be right so I stand by them, however, I do not always stop to think about how my ideas/beliefs might affect those I am interacting with (or am connected to). Also, when you know that you are connected to others, you realize that when you talk about others, put others down, or make fun of another, you are in turn actually doing it to yourself since we are all connected.
“Be Impeccable With Your Word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.” – Don Miguel Ruiz
Do any of us want to go around putting ourselves down, or talking about ourselves negatively? I would have to say no, so then why do it to others? We must begin to think of our own behaviors as whatever I give to another is what I will receive.
The parting thought for the day is, “How can I give and in that receive today?”
“Givers gain and takers loose, what you put out you get back.” - Brian Klemmer
Have a super day everyone!!!
