What is a vocation? What is a mission? A vocation is a calling and a mission is an assignment. In essence when we were created in our mothers’ wombs we were all given a specific mission/vocation by our creator. Your mission/vocation is different from my mission/vocation. You have been called for a unique purpose and no one else can do what you have been called to do. If you stop to think about it God loves you so much that he created no two people alike. There are those of us who may have a similar mission or vocation but the way we accomplish our mission is different. I know there have been times in my life where I feel I am unable to carry out the mission or vocation I have been tasked with, to love, serve, and share my life with others, however, in those times of self-doubt I must choose to keep pressing on, because no one else on this earth can carry out the mission I have been given the way I would. The same goes for you, you have been given a unique mission to carry out, and only you can do it in a way that is different from everyone else.
Think of your mission, your life, as a creation, a piece of art, a house being built, or a diamond being formed. Each high and low, each moment of your day creates your masterpiece. One of my favorite authors is C. S. Lewis and this is one of my favorite illustrations of how God forms us and creates us into His masterpiece if we allow Him.
“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of – throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.” ― C. S. Lewis
How will you carry out your mission, will you play small and do the bare minimum to just get by, will you have a cottage, or will you play big, take risks, make a seismic impact and live in a Palace?
You are loved, you are awesome just as you are, there is no one else like you. Go and live out your mission without holding back.
Have a SUPER day!!
