“Your feelings in any moment are yours to choose. You can choose to feel the wonderful reality of your most treasured dreams long before those dreams have been fully achieved. And when you do, you put yourself in a positive, powerful place from which you can surely make those dreams real.” - Ralph Marston
“Would you rather have your feelings come out sideways or directly.” – Chip Hart
Stop to think about it… feelings that come out sideways usually come out in unhealthy or destructive ways. When I express my feelings directly, there is no guessing or jumping to false assumptions, it is communicated and then I can move on.
I did not communicate my feelings last night in a healthy direct approach and now I wish I would have said exactly what I was feeling. I wasted an evening on something that I was feeling but was not willing to communicate. Words are powerful and feelings are powerful, so when you put the two together, you get something cataclysmic. What I realize is that I have to acknowledge my feelings, communicate them if necessary, and then choose what I am going to do with them. Will I let them be destructive or constructive? If I let them be destructive they become like a tumble weed and keep moving and collecting more destructiveness. If I acknowledge them and communicate them, then I can move on. I asked myself this morning, was my 5 hours last night really constructive? The answer is no, it was not and I cannot get those 5 hours back, they are gone, but I can choose today to work harder on being in tune and communicating.
In closing my question to you is, how do you deal with your feelings? Do you stuff them? Do you just react and allow resistance, resentment and then revenge to set in? Do your feelings come out sideways or directly?
“Choose each day to feel the way you wish to feel, no matter what is going on around you, and let your feelings pull you toward the fulfillment of your destiny.” – Ralph Marston
