“Leaders make changes in their lifestyle. If you don’t change, crashing is certain. This is true in business, marriage, and any other pursuit. The world is a constantly changing road, so if you don’t continually adjust the steering wheel you will eventually crash.” – Brian Klemmer
How many of us hear the word change and immediately have a negative thought or emotion? I know I used to dislike change and even used to blame my problems on the change that was taking place in my life. We have the ability to control the starting, stopping, speed and direction that change takes. The more change we go through, the less challenging it becomes.
Many people still resist change because they say they want stability, but what is stability? Are we not always either growing or decaying, moving forward or backwards? Stability does not exist, it is a myth. Stability is a construct designed to create a false sense of security, safety, and comfort. Stability allows us to avoid action by lulling us into a comfortable sense of stasis. This means when we say we want stability we are giving an excuse about why we are not growing, not changing and are in fact slowly decaying.
Today when I think of change I think of opportunities, experiences, and adventures, however, I also have feelings of fear. That fear is a pair of sunglasses I must remove. Change can be challenging, however, when it is challenging think of it as attaining another facet in the diamond of your life. Do you want to be a cloudy, misshapen, jagged blob of carbon or do you want to be a brilliantly faceted diamond? I choose to be a brilliantly faceted diamond, a diamond that will fit in the crown of the King.
Are you open to taking a risk and embracing change? What does that look like for you? Commit to doing something different each day and see how your life begins to change for the better.
